The 3 Dimensional Nature Of Man | His Body

Man’s body, or the flesh, is a complex physical creation by which a person relates to this physical material world and to other people in the world. It is the part with which man communicates with the physical natural realm. 

The body does not have the ability to know or relate with God, nor will it ever be. The flesh is God’s enemy because it always opposes God. Every person's body has a unique DNA code, which exists in every cell of the body to program that person’s unique growth,development and behavior.The flesh goes back to dust at death just like God said.In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto the ground; for out of it wast thou taken: for dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return.Genesis 3:19      

Watchman Nee describes the flesh in his book-pg 78-79,The Spiritual Man-"Although the flesh is exceedingly strong in sinning and following selfish desire it is extremely weak towards the will of God. Unregenerated man is powerless to fulfill any of God’s will, being “weakened by the flesh.” And the flesh is even “hostile to God; it does not submit to God’s law, indeed it cannot” (Rom. 8.3, 7). This however does not imply that the flesh totally disregards the things of God. The fleshly sometimes do exert their utmost strength to observe the law. The Bible moreover never treats the fleshly as synonymous with the law-breakers. It merely concludes that “by works of the law shall no flesh be justified” (Gal. 2.16 ASV). For the fleshly not to keep the law is certainly nothing unusual. It simply proves they are of the flesh. But now that God has ordained that man shall not be justified by works of law but by faith in the Lord Jesus (Rom. 3.28), those who attempt to follow the law only disclose their disobedience to God, seeking to establish their own righteousness in lieu of God’s righteousness (Rom. 10.3). It reveals further that they belong to the The Flesh and Salvation 79 flesh. To sum up, “those who are in the flesh cannot please God” (Rom. 8.8), and this “cannot” seals the fate of the fleshly.

"God looks upon the flesh as utterly corrupt. So closely is it linked with lust that the Bible often refers to “the lusts of the flesh” (2 Peter 2.18 Darby). Great though His power, God nonetheless cannot transform the nature of the flesh into something pleasing to Himself. God Himself declares: “My spirit shall not always strive in man forever, for he is flesh” (Gen. 6.3 Young’s). The corruption of the flesh is such that even the Holy Spirit of God cannot by striving against the flesh render it unfleshly. That which is born of the flesh is flesh. Man unfortunately does not understand God’s Word and so he tries continually to refine and reform his flesh. Yet the Word of God stands forever. Due to its exceeding corruption, God warns His saints to hate “even the garment spotted by the flesh” (Jude 23)."

The 3 Dimensional Nature Of Man | His Soul

The mind or soul is the organ of thought which connects the brain and the body together in a unique manner. It is the meeting point between soul and body. It acts as a filter of sorts and allows communication from the spirit to the body and vice versa. The soul, or the mind, includes the brain, the conscious and subconscious minds, the realm of thought, emotions, reasoning, wisdom, cleverness, will, and intellect. Through it a man is equipped to know, think, imagine, remember, and understand.
Watchman Nee describes the soul in his book-pg 154,The Spiritual Man-"When we say the soul is the natural life of man we mean it is the power which preserves us alive in the flesh. Our soul is our life. The original word employed in Genesis 1.21,24 for “living creature(s)” is “soul” because this soul is the life human beings and other living creatures share in common. This is the power we naturally possess and by which we live before our regeneration; it is the life which every man has. The Greek lexicon gives the original meaning of psuche as “animal life”; so that soul life is what makes man a living creature. It belongs to the natural. Though the soul life may not necessarily be evil—since many sins have been overcome by believers through their old man being crucified with Christ—yet it remains natural. It is the life of man; hence it is most human. It makes man a perfectly human being. Perhaps it is good, loving and humble. Nonetheless, it is but human."

 The mind or soul is not regenerated at new birth (regeneration), therefore it must be renewed daily and consistently by the Word of God and prayer to be empowered to know God’s perfect will. And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.. Romans 12:2

The mind or soul is an essential part of life because it easily influences crucial decisions and actions. It constitutes a battlefield where Satan and his evil spirits contend against the truth of God’s Word and against the believer.  God lives in man's spirit and communicates divine will into man's spirit from where it is transmitted to the soul and subsequently to the body for action.

 



The 3 Dimensional Nature Of Man | His Spirit

Man is fundamentally a spirit being created to commune primarily with God.The spirit of man is the part with which he communicates with God and the spiritual realm. Man's spirit is also referred to as the inner man, the heart, or the spirit man. 

It is made of a spiritual material that cannot be seen with the naked eyes unless God allows it to be seen through the spiritual eyes.Man's spirit is created by God to keep his body and soul intact and alive. Without the spirit, the body would be dead.

It is the spirit of man that receives the breath of God at new creation (new birth, regeneration) and is then given the ability to worship, fellowship, and communicate with God. God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth. John 4:24 According to Dakes Commentary of the Bible (Dakes Annotated Reference Bible) “God is a Spirit Being, not the sun, moon, stars; nor an image of wood, stone, or metal; and not beast or man. He is not the air, wind, universal mind, love or some impersonal quality. He is a person with a personal spirit body, a personal soul and a personal spirit like that of angels, and like that of a man except His body is of spirit substance instead of flesh and bones (Job 13:8; Heb.1: 3)” 

The spirit is the actual man, not the flesh or the body. It is the seat of God’s wisdom. This is the place where God lives and moves in man. Before salvation the spirit of man is dead. The body without the spirit is dead. (James 2:26a) At salvation, it is made to come alive (quickened) by the Spirit of God and born anew like a baby and must feed on God’s Word to grow to be able to know God. Just like a child must grow, so must the new believer grow in his spirit to be able to comprehend the things of God. 

The ultimate task of the spirit man is to KNOW God, by feeding on God's Word constantly and consistently.If the spirit does not feed on the Word of God, it remains a baby, weak and beggarly, battered by the forces of hell and unable to receive knowledge wisdom and understanding of God. Man's spirit must feed on God’s Word to remain sound and strong in faith and be able to resist the devil and the powers of darkness.It is through his spirit that man is able to perceive the difference between the truth of God's Word and the deceptive lies of the devil.

Regeneration [New Birth In Christ]

Regeneration is the spiritual process of passing out of spiritual death into spiritual life. It is also known as the new birth in Christ attainable only through God's Holy Spirit.

A man’s spirit before regeneration is alienated from God and is considered dead and therefore unable to commune or communicate with God. He is therefore controlled by his soul which makes him a servant of his thoughts, beliefs, ideas, habits and lusts and passions of the body. 'Death" in this context means a  disconnection from eternal life and from God who is the source of eternal life.

Man’s spirit must, therefore, be quickened through regeneration to become spiritually alive to God and to be empowered for a relationship with Him.This new birth is what transmits the very life force of  God to the natural man. 

What happens to man's spirit at regeneration

1.The new birth takes place entirely within the spirit; it has no relation to soul or body. 

2. Man spirit begins to communicate and continue to live in constant and living union with God. 

3.Man's spirit becomes alive to God and able to worship God in spirit and truth.Since God is Spirit; all who worship Him, therefore, must worship in spirit. 

God's Word Is A Spiritual Hammer

Is not my word like as a fire? saith the Lord; and like a hammer that breaketh the rock in pieces?Jeremiah 23:29

 

God's Word is a spiritual hammer, a powerful invisible weapon of spiritual warfare that destroys every spiritual problem in a person's life.It is not like any hammer in this world. It is spiritual and therefore wielded in the spirit. It is only effective in the mouth of a spiritual man, and not carnal. (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;) 2 Corinthians 10:4

 

How this "hammer" works

 

1.Believe in your heart that this"hammer"(God's Word) works.

2.Boldly declare God's Word in faith.(Speak it out loud into the atmosphere.

3.Have faith in God that this "hammer" works.

4.Stand strong in faith until you see the desired result.

5.Receive the desired result in faith and maintain it by continuous and consistent study and meditation of the Word.

God's Word Is Quick And Powerful

God's Word is quick and powerful, it is the very life force of God, it brings dead situations to life, and it is spiritually sharper than any two edged sword. God's Word is alive with God himself.For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. Hebrews 4:12

God's Word is God Himself. In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. John 1:1

When God's Word is planted in the heart God's divine nature begins to flow in the believer as he releases his faith.Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.2 Peter 1:4

God's Word Is Spiritual Fire

Fire as defined by a dictionary.com "is a state, process, or instance of combustion in which fuel or other material is ignited and combined with oxygen, giving off light, heat, and flame."Fire emits flashing light; it has a luminous appearance, and it has brilliance.

Divine Spiritual Fire

God's Word is Divine Spiritual Fire. It is invisible because it originates from the divine supernatural. This is the powerful ultimate devil destroyer. There is no match anywhere for this type of fire because it comes from God who is the ultimate omnipresent omniscient power in heaven in the earth and the universe. Psalm 139:7-10 states "Whither shall I go from thy spirit? or whither shall I flee from thy presence? If I ascend up into heaven, thou art there: if I make my bed in hell, behold, thou art there. If I take the wings of the morning and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea;1Even there shall thy hand lead me, and thy right hand shall hold me."

The fire in God's Word destroys every work of darkness. Is not my word like as a fire? saith the Lord; and like a hammer that breaketh the rock in pieces?Jeremiah 23:29. Spiritual fire is required by believers to witness for Christ in times of evangelism and to fight spiritual battles. Without this spiritual fire, the believer will be a weakling, powerless in the face of confrontations with the devil and his agents.

Characteristics of Divine Spiritual Fire

1. It convicts and converts the world of sin.

God's Word as spiritual fire enters into man's spirit by the Holy Spirit to convict him of sin and converts him to righteousness in Jesus Christ. Without this fire, no man can see himself a sinner, lost and needing redemption. This is the most important work of God's Word through the power of His mighty Holy Spirit. The law of the Lord is perfect, converting the soul: the testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple. Psalm 19:7

2. It purifies and sanctifies 

God's Word as spiritual fire purifies men for the service of God. 

And he shall sit as a refiner and purifier of silver: and he shall purify the sons of Levi, and purge them as gold and silver, that they may offer unto the Lord an offering in righteousness. Malachi 3:3. God's Word as fire sanctifies believers for their divine assignments and maintains them in Word reading, study, and meditation. Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth. John 17:17 

3. It Consumes

It consumes every evil work in the believer, sickness, infirmity, afflictions, yokes, and bondages, and promotes a life of righteousness in Christ. For the Lord thy God is a consuming fire, even a jealous God. Deuteronomy 4:24

4. It burns with unquenchable fire

Divine spiritual fire is unquenchable. It can never be put out by any force. It is everlasting and untouchable. The kingdom of darkness cannot resist it or destroy it. This fire destroys every spiritual power that comes against God's power. It penetrates every situation and dominates every evil spiritual activity. Whose fan is in his hand, and he will thoroughly purge his floor, and gather his wheat into the garner; but he will burn up the chaff with unquenchable fire. Matthew 12:3

5. It promotes spiritual light and divine direction

God's Word as fire always gives light in a dark place of life for the believer who trusts in God. When this fire is ignited every darkness must disappear,w without question. The fire in God's Word lights up the path of the just continuously and gives him perfect divine direction. But the path of the just is as the shining light, that shineth more and more unto the perfect day. Proverbs 4:8. When the believer is walking down a dark path of spiritual blindness or does not know what to do in a particular situation, it is the fire in God's Word that gives him light so that he can see where he is going and not fall into the ditch or traps of the devil. He will then be empowered to make sound decisions that propel him into the perfect plan of God for his spiritual life, his career, his marriage, his children, in every sphere of life, spirit soul and body. Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path. Psalm 119:105

God's Word Is Spiritual Healing Medicine(Balm In Gilead)

God’s Word is spiritual healing medicine(Balm in Gilead), a divine supernatural medicine that is potent and effective for every ailment. It has no expiry date and there is no danger of overdose. Unlike other medicines, you can never take too much of it.

For they are life unto those that find them, and health to all their flesh. Proverbs 4:22

God’s Word brings total healing and restoration. The more of God’s Word you use, the better off you will be in life. God Word heals.He sent his word, and healed them, and delivered them from their destructions. Psalm 107:20

God's Word is available as medicine to the believer in Christ at all times if applied correctly.It only works when you take it as prescribed, into your spirit man by reading, studying and meditating on the Word. As you do this you must ask the Holy Spirit to give you understanding by His “Rhema Word”,or "Revelation"a first hand experience of personally hearing from God through His Word.

God's Word Is Spiritual Light

Light is powerful, light reveals and exposes hidden things, light drives away darkness. Light and darkness does not mix.Light is always superior to darkness.God is always Light and the devil is always darkness.

When God's Light enters into a man through His Word they see their own flaws,faults and insufficiency of their own righteousness, and the way to salvation of their soul by Jesus Christ; The entrance of thy words giveth light; it giveth understanding unto the simple.Psalm 119:130

We will now examine light in the spiritual context here-Spiritual Light.Scripture declares thus: Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life. John 8:12

 God's Word is the Spiritual Light for the believer. Without this kind of light the believer remains in spiritual darkness  stumbling in all affairs of life and continually buffeted by the devil at his will. When this light comes in contact with darkness of any sort, that darkness disappears without resistance or struggle.And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not. John 1:5

Light gives clarity of vision and subsequent speed. Divine light does this and much more.The principal function of divine spiritual light is to promote and maintain  clarity of spiritual vision, hearing and perception. This is critical to every believer because without spiritual light the believer will have a loss of spiritual vision and perception in life which will result in inability to reach one's divine destiny.Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life John 8:12

How To Access Spiritual Light

• By revelation(Light)                                                   
• Revelation occurs when the Holy Spirit (the anointing) shines His light on scripture making it bare (open) to your heart (spirit) and transmits it to your mind, thereby changing your thinking and bringing it in line with God’s thinking. God communicates through divine light and He transmits this light into you when you meditate on His word.It is God’s word as the voice of God as revealed to you, from the pages of scripture that addresses you as an individual in a specific situation and for a specific purpose. Revelation of God’s word comes with divine instruction and information, which is accompanied by divine empowerment to carry out the instruction or utilize the given information to effect a God ordained change in your life.

• By Reading God's Word                                                   
A steady and consistent flow of God's Word through reading helps the believer access divine light. Seek ye out of the book of the Lord, and read: no one of these shall fail, none shall want her mate: for my mouth it hath commanded, and his spirit it hath gathered them Isaiah 34:16

• By continuous and consistent hearing and seeing God's Word(with both spiritual and physical eyes and ears) Constant and consistent hearing of God's Word sheds light on the believer's heart.So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing  by   the word of God. Romans 10:17

•  By continuous and consistent study and meditation    
  
  An in depth study and meditation in God's Word will always open spiritual eyes. Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. 2 Timothy 2:15
  
  

• Through Spiritual Impressions of light on the heart by the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit communicates light to the spirit of man through his intuition. This is an organ of thought and is the habitation of God's Spirit in man.For with thee is the fountain of life: in thy light shall we see light. Psalm 36:9

Strive to receive and remain in God's Light You will no longer be in the darkness of life.

God's Word Is Spiritual Water

God's Word is like water, in this case, spiritual water. What does water do? It washes, cleans, refreshes and quenches thirst.Therefore in the context of scriptures, God's Word works in the following ways.

• It cleans out every spiritual filth: Then will I sprinkle clean water upon you, and ye shall be clean: from all your filthiness, and from all your idols, will I cleanse you. Ezekiel 36:25

• It refreshes the spirit man(the heart): Repent ye, therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord.Acts 3:19

• It washes out spiritual dirt: That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word, Ephesians 5:26 

• It quenches every spiritual thirst: For I will pour water upon him that is thirsty, and floods upon the dry ground: I will pour my spirit upon thy seed, and my blessing upon thine offspring: Isaiah 44:3

Jesus speaking in John 4:14  states:

But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life.

See God's Word as the everlasting life water and you will remain sound in spirit soul and body.

God's Word Is Spiritual Food

God's Word is the spiritual food of the believer. You must eat God’s word to be nourished by it if you must stay alive and stay connected to the Spirit of God. Job considered God's Word more than his physical food.

I have not departed from the commandment of His lips; I have kept the words of His mouth more than my necessary food. Job 23:12 [KJV]

Just as your body is nourished by natural food, so your spirit is nourished by God's Word. If you don’t eat physically, you will become sick malnourished and eventually die. Likewise if you don’t eat God’s Word you will be spiritually malnourished.

How To "Eat" God's Word

You must eat God's Word by reading, studying, meditating, ruminatinating, and pondering on it by the power of the Holy Spirit. Let it become your lifestyle. Like natural food, you must allow God's Word to be digested, absorbed and assimilated into your spiritual digestive tract(your inner man,spirit,heart). Only then will it nourish your spirit and your life.Remember, your spirit is the real you and your life, it has the ability to live for ever, your flesh is not, it will only rot away. 

Eat God's Word daily and consistently and your will prosper in every area of life. 

And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.

What Is Divine Power?

Divine power simply means God’s enablement, or empowerment, which may also be known as grace. It means the God ability in man, and the God enablement present in the believer to accomplish divine tasks,on the earth. Without divine power one will not  to be able to execute the works of Christ rather, he will become meat for the devil.

Grace elects to save all that will believe in Jesus Christ. It is required that men accept the free gift of grace through Jesus Christ in order to be empowered to enjoy the power and the mercy of God on the earth.

Divine power may also be described as the love, mercy and favor of God multiplied upon a believer that helps him remain above the obstacles of this life. Scripture declares that it is the Holy Spirit who releases power to the believer in Christ.

“But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.”  Acts 1:8

Speaking And Praying In The Holy Ghost

After you have been baptized in the Holy Spirit, you will begin to speak and pray in unknown tongues as the Holy Ghost gives you utterance. Praying in the Holy Spirit or in tongues simply means praying according to the perfect will of God. It is the spiritual prayer language of the believer in Christ.Welcome to this dynamite power weapon of God.

How to pray in the Holy Ghost

1.Believe in the power of God in speaking and praying in the Holy Ghost.

2.Pray to God for help to receive His heavenly language.

3.Believe and be confident that you have received.

4.Relax, speak, without fear, every sound that He gives you to speak. He will not force you. He will only give you the utterance, but you must do the speaking.

5.Speak out until a free clear language comes of your mouth and you have an inner assurance that you have received power from Him(the Holy Spirit).

6.Your mind must not be allowed to wander aimlessly as you pray in the Holy Spirit. It must be trained to be in subjection to the Holy Spirit. It must be controlled and not allowed to go its own way. You must keep God’s word in your spirit by studying and meditating on it.

7.You must actively engage your spirit in what you are praying about, don’t  be distracted. Keep a note pad with you and write down every distracting thought that you need to take care of as you pray and deal with it only when you have finished praying.

8.You must actively concentrate upon spiritual thoughts.For without the active, intelligent cooperation of the spirit, it has no means of expressing itself and thus is bound. (Charles Usher, The Prayer life, 1975). Endnote.

Benefits of speaking and praying in tongues(the Holy Spirit)

1.The more you pray and speak in the Holy Ghost, the more you increase in spiritual discernment and edification and the more you are able to clearly hear the voice of God (with your spiritual ears.)

2.God helps you speak and pray as you should, and for what you should pray for according to His will so that your prayers can become fruitful. There is no point praying fruitless prayers.

"Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.  And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God."Romans 8: 26-27 (KJV)

3.This type of prayer comes from your spirit instead of your mind or intellect, therefore, you are able to pray the perfect will of God over any situation.

4.This is the most powerful of all prayers because it is praying in our most holy faith.“But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost,” Jude 20 (KJV)
