God's Word is like water, in this case, spiritual water. What does water do? It washes, cleans, refreshes and quenches thirst.Therefore in the context of scriptures, God's Word works in the following ways.
- It cleans out every spiritual filth: Then will I sprinkle clean water upon you, and ye shall be clean: from all your filthiness, and from all your idols, will I cleanse you. Ezekiel 36:25
- It refreshes the spirit man(the heart): Repent ye, therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord.Acts 3:19
- It washes out spiritual dirt: That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word, Ephesians 5:26
- It quenches every spiritual thirst: For I will pour water upon him that is thirsty, and floods upon the dry ground: I will pour my spirit upon thy seed, and my blessing upon thine offspring: Isaiah 44:3
Jesus speaking in John 4:14 states:
But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life.
See God's Word as the everlasting life water and you will remain sound in spirit soul and body.
